KIOSK MODE

Kiosk mode allows for the use of only one fixed application on the screen. Once configured, the device will exclusively display a single application, which will remain open at all times.

To enable this setting, navigate to the Chrome settings tab within the group details of the group you wish to configure (Groups > test group > details).

Upon clicking on the configuration, a modal will be displayed, showcasing all available ChromeOS configuration options.

At this moment, please select the "Kiosk Mode" tab.

The first step will be to select the format that will be used to send the kiosk app to the devices. You will have the option to choose: By URL or by APP code.

Please note that only one app or website can be configured in kiosk mode at a time. If you already have one registered, you must delete the current one before registering a new one.

BY URL

With this option, you can add websites to managed Chrome OS devices in locked kiosk mode.

To add a website as a kiosk, select the "by URL" option. Enter a complete and valid URL (must start with http:// or https://) in the provided field.

Click on the '+' icon.

After this action, the app will be listed below.

Click Save changes to apply the kiosk configuration to the devices. To delete this configuration, simply click on the trash icon and then Save changes.

Considerations:

  • This feature is only available for ChromeOS 81 or later versions.

  • Please confirm that the specified URLs do not have any redirects. Only permission requests from the original URL are granted automatically. Requests from other URLs are automatically rejected.

  • Any changes will only be validated after clicking Save changes.

BY APP CODE

You can use the codes of Chrome extensions and apps to add them as kiosk mode.

To add an app or extension as kiosk mode, select the "By app code" option.

Then, enter the code of the app published on the Chrome Web Store. Click the '+' icon.

Click "Save changes" to apply the kiosk configuration to the devices.

To delete this configuration, simply click on the trash icon and then Save changes.

Important consideration: You can use packaged Chrome apps to create kiosk apps. However, hosted apps are not supported.

  • Use Chrome apps configured to run in fullscreen mode.
