Creating Web Apps
Updated over a year ago

With Android Enterprise, we have the possibility to create a Web app. This is an option that makes it easier to access a specific internet link directly on the devices' launcher, as if it were an application.

Next, let's see how to create a Web App.

In the Applications menu, click on '+' and click on Play Store.

Click on the third option, Web Apps.

And then click on ‘+’ to create a new App.

Fill in the requested information.

  • Enter the app title;

  • Insert the URL of the site you want to create the shortcut as an app;

  • Full screen: the Web app will use the entire screen;

  • Standalone: The Web app shows the status and navigation bars of the smartphone version;

  • Minimal UI: The Web app shows the status and navigation bars of the smartphone version, as well as the URL bar and refresh button.

  • Upload icon: Insert the image you would like to use in the app, following the recommended dimensions.

After entering the data, it will take a few minutes for the system to create the APP.

Initially, it will be presented like this:

After the app is released, you should send it to the launcher and group you would like to use. Access the app and click on “Select”:

You should send it to the launcher and group, just like a normal release of apps via Play Store:

  • Add to the launcher of the selected groups;

  • Select Groups;

  • Save.

Then, the app will be sent to all devices that are in the selected group and have a managed account created.

Note: In order for it to be possible to access the app, the chrome package (com.android.chrome) must be released on the launcher, it can be in the background. When it is an HTTP URL (unsecured network), it must be created as “Minimal UI” (option 5).
