With this feature, it is possible to create a Work Profile on a device owned by the company, which can also have another personal profile, but this will also be managed by the organization. Just like in the Work Profile, a work profile is created alongside another one, where the end user will see several applications that will be marked with a folder symbol when they are in the Work Profile.
Prerequisites:
Android Oreo 8.0+;
Device with previously assigned Google account removed and factory reset, or new device.
Follow the step-by-step instructions to perform the setup:
Access your environment and go to the Groups menu. Click on the phone icon.
You will see the page with the following activation methods:
Fully Managed Device;
Fully Managed Device with Work Profile;
Work Profile (BYOD).
In this article, we will show you how activation works via Fully Managed Device with Work Profile.
You will see three ways to perform this activation.
AFW (Android for Work);
QR Code;
Zero Touch.
1. AFW (Android for Work)
2. QR Code;
3. Zero Touch
Below, we provide the code for you to copy:
{
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_LEAVE_ALL_SYSTEM_APPS_ENABLED": true,
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_ADMIN_EXTRAS_BUNDLE": {
"com.google.android.apps.work.clouddpc.EXTRA_ENROLLMENT_TOKEN": "WPVZVMZBQWQVFQARMCPK"
}
}
Select the option you prefer to use and follow the step-by-step instructions.
We will use the second option via QR Code.
With the device reset, you should open the camera as soon as the welcome logo appears on the screen.
To do this, you may need to press the device's menu button several times. The camera will open, allowing you to scan the QR code.
Here is a short video that can explain it better.
Next, you will see some screens that you will encounter during the QR Code activation process. Please note that the images may vary depending on the device manufacturer.
Finally, you will be able to see the new ID that was registered in this group in the environment.
Notes: The device will not activate the Pulsus launcher; on the web, you will be able to see some information, but you won't have management like activation via Fully Managed, for example. Additionally, only apps distributed through the Play Store are compatible with this activation mode, not APKs.
