Installation of Apps via Play Store
Updated over a week ago

The distribution of apps via Play Store is an Android Enterprise feature that allows companies to deploy and manage apps on Android devices in a centralized way. Apps are uploaded to Google Play Console, where deployment rules can be configured, and users can download and install apps directly from the Play Store on their managed devices. This feature offers security, scalability, and flexibility for companies.

If an app is distributed via APK, and you want to migrate it to Play Store management, it will not be necessary to remove the APK. Our system replaces it with the Play Store version. Once the app is distributed through Google's feature, it will disappear from the Pulsus Store app list.

To install apps via Play Store, access the environment and click on the '+' to add new Applications.

Next, select the Play Store type.

You will have access to the Play Store through the environment and you will be able to choose the applications you are interested in using.

Find the App you want and click Select.

The next screen presents some general app settings.

  1. Add to selected groups launcher: With this setting, Pulsus will add the application to the Launcher that is linked to the group. We recommend that you keep it checked so that you don't have to manually perform this procedure.

  2. App update setup:

    • Immediate update - Updates immediately.

    • Postpone for 90 days - Updates only after at least 90 days.

    • Android default - Updates as soon as certain requirements are met:

      • Device is charging;

      • Wi-Fi connection;

      • Device is idle;

      • The app to be updated is not running in the foreground;

  3. Connected work and personal apps: Allows integration of the application between work and personal profiles (when the device has a work profile - Work Profile).

  4. Delegate for this app permission to:

    • Certificate Installation and Management;

    • Application restrictions management;

    • Blocking app's unistallation;

    • Permission policy and permission grant state;

    • Package access state;

    • Enabling system apps;

    • Read network logs;

    • Read security logs;

  5. Select groups: Here you can select which groups you would like to distribute this application to.

  6. Select groups by tag: It is also possible to configure which device groups will download the application by selecting the TAGS already configured in the group creation.

Next, choose the Group and click Save.

You will be able to view the apps normally, just like in the apk distribution process. However, they will not be in the Pulsus Store on the device. The apps can be viewed in the device's Play Store.

Note:

  • The app updates will be made available on the Play Store, so we recommend that the automatic update configuration is always enabled;

  • We do not recommend canceling an app that is already being distributed through the Play Store and then distributing it through an apk, as this overlap does not occur in our system;

  • If the launcher device has a personal account in addition to the managed account, this account will be able to download apps even if they have not been previously approved. However, the app downloaded in this way cannot be accessed, as only the apps that are in the Launcher can be viewed;

  • In this Google link, you can find details about the app update process.
