Lost Mode - Windows

Updated this week

Lost Mode is a security feature from Pulsus that allows you to completely lock a Windows device remotely. Once activated, no user, whether local or linked to a domain (AD), will be able to access the operating system.

The device can only be unlocked through the Pulsus web platform, using the administrator password.

This functionality is especially useful in cases such as:

  • Loss or theft of the equipment, preventing unauthorized use by third parties.

  • Temporary protection of the device until a verification is performed.

  • Ensuring that only the IT team can restore access.

Prerequisites

  • Windows 10 and Windows 11.

  • Agent Version 1.5.19+

How to activate Lost Mode

Here's how to do it in a few steps:

  1. Access the Pulsus Web platform.

  2. Go to the devices menu.

  3. Select the desired device.

  4. On the device detail page, click the "Lost Mode" icon.

  5. Set a lock message (optional).

  6. Confirm the action by entering the administrator password.

What happens after activation?

  • The device is immediately locked.

  • No login will be accepted on the machine, regardless of the account type.

  • The lock screen message will indicate that the device is in "Lost Mode" and can only be unlocked via Pulsus.

How to unlock the device

The device can only be unlocked through the same Pulsus Web interface, using the administrator password registered on the platform.
