Distribution of apps via VPP
Updated over a week ago

The VPP, known as the Volume Purchase Program, allows your company or institutions to purchase apps and books in bulk from the Apple store and distribute them to their clients.

For macOS, to acquire apps in MDM, whether paid or free, you need to create an account on the Apple portal and make the purchase through the portal.

First, create an account on the site: https://business.apple.com/

How to configure:

Prerequisites: Have the APNs certificate previously configured.

  1. In Apple > Integrations > Apple Business Manager, go to VPP and select the "Create New Configuration" option.

  2. Upload the certificate generated in Apple Business Manager, following the instructions on the next screen:

After completing this process, the Apple purchase program will be configured in your Pulsus environment, and you will be able to purchase apps or books through Apple Business Manager.

In Apple Business Manager, under “Apps and Books,” select the app you want to download:

Select the app and the quantity you would like to purchase:

  • If it is free, the purchase will be completed automatically.

  • If it is a paid app, you will need to provide a payment method at the time of purchase.

After the purchase, you will receive an email confirming the app purchase.

After that, you can go to the “Apps” menu in Pulsus and click “synchronize” in the top right menu of the screen to update with the apps purchased via VPP.

With the app synchronized, you can distribute it to the groups you want.
