Renewing iOS APNS Certificate
Renewing iOS APNS Certificate

This article will guide you through the renewal of the iOS APNS Certificate.

Updated yesterday

Start with Pulsus

Access Pulsus Web and navigate to Apple > Integrations.

On the Certificates screen, you will see the certificates related to Pulsus MDM along with the Renew option.

Click Renew:

Download the file from item 1 and access the link from item 2. This link will redirect you to Apple’s website.

Access and Renew the Certificate

  1. Log in with the Apple ID used to create the current certificate.

⚠️ Using a different Apple ID than the one originally used will make it impossible to renew the certificate. ⚠️

  2. In the list of certificates, find the one you want to renew. Verify the description (e.g., app or system name).

  3. Click "Renew" on the certificate you wish to renew.

  4. Upload the pulsus.certSignRequest.CSR file that you previously downloaded from Pulsus.

  5. After renewal, a new certificate file will be generated. Download the new APNS certificate.

Return to Pulsus

  1. Upload the newly downloaded certificate.

Validate the Renewal

  1. Test sending a command to an iOS or macOS device.

  2. Confirm that the new certificate is active and working properly to avoid disruptions.

Important:

  • Apple ID: The Apple ID used for renewal must be the same as the one used for creation.

  • Renewal vs. New Certificate: Always renew the existing certificate. Creating a new one may impact the management of already-configured devices.

  • Deadline: Renew the certificate before it expires to avoid notification disruptions.

  • Backup: Save the renewed certificate and its private keys in a secure location.
