This feature allows you to remotely enable or disable the microphone on Windows devices, ensuring greater control over privacy and the security of corporate communications.
Prerequisites
Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Agent Version 1.10.27+
Use Cases
Environments with sensitive information: Companies dealing with confidential data, such as law firms, banks, or public agencies, can disable the microphone on certain devices to prevent unauthorized audio capture or information leaks during meetings and service calls.
Control on shared or public-use devices: In schools, libraries, kiosks, and training centers, blocking the microphone helps maintain user privacy and prevents the feature from being misused on shared equipment.
Focus and productivity in corporate environments: In call center operations or field teams, blocking the microphone on devices not used for direct communication helps eliminate distractions, noise, and unnecessary recordings, maintaining focus on core activities.
Compliance with internal security policies: Companies with strict information security policies can automate microphone blocking on specific device groups, ensuring adherence to standards and internal audits.
How it works
It is possible to choose whether the microphone on Windows devices will be enabled or disabled.
Go to: Windows Menu → Settings → General → Disable microphone
After configuration, the policy is automatically sent to all selected devices, which then adhere to the defined behavior. If the microphone is disabled, the end user will not be able to manually re-enable it.
