Compatibility with Android 4.4 or lower
Updated over a week ago

Due to Google's requirements for Android 15 support, devices with Android 4.4 (KitKat) or lower will no longer be compatible with new versions of the Pulsus MDM agent, and will not receive future features and resources.

However, these devices will still be able to be enrolled and managed through version 4.9.85 of the Pulsus MDM agent, which will ensure the continuity of services, maintaining the necessary stability and security.

This change will take place in the first week of April 2025.

Why was it changed?

This update was necessary for two main reasons:

  • Preparation for Android 15: To meet the technical requirements of the next Android release (version 15), it was essential to update the Java version used in our agent.

  • Security and performance: Maintaining compatibility with Android 4.4 (KitKat) – which has no longer been supported by Google since August 2023 – was preventing us from implementing critical security updates and performance improvements in our system.

What is the advantage of this change?

Over the years, applications tend to become heavier, both in size and resource usage. Older devices, such as those with Android 4.4 or lower, have reduced capabilities. By limiting a version of Pulsus for these devices, we are ensuring greater longevity and more stable operation for them, preventing them from becoming overloaded with future updates.

From when?

The specific version for Android 4.4 or lower will be available from the first week of April 2025.

How to enroll devices with Android 4.4 or lower?

To enroll devices with Android 4.4 or lower, use version 4.9.85 available at this link. The enrollment process is the same as that used for devices enrolled in DA.
